ASHEVILLE — As runners crossed the finish line after completing the half marathon and full marathon in the inaugural Asheville Citizen-Times City Marathon on Saturday. There were two comments repeated over and over.  “So many hills,” was one. “The other? “This is the toughest race I’ve ever run.” For results click on this link: http://rightontimeproductions.blogspot.com/2013/09/2013-asheville-citizen-times-city.html

Article about my dad, Melvin E. Hanson (Inventor of the Melehan Valiant Telegraph Key)

From Neal McEwen (Dallas) ( nmcewen@metrohet.com ) Mel was “an intercept operator for the Radio Intelligence Division of the FCC... Their job was to find suspicious signals be they enemy signals or traiters on American soil.“ MEL HANSON'S KEYS by Randy Cole, KN6W Mel Hanson stared with amazement at the haywire circuit connected to Ed Hahn's Vibroplex.  The wires weren't even soldered, just twisted together.  "THAT is what you've been using?" he asked Ed, "Look at all the hours I've spent on this one", handing him the impressive-looking key he brought with him. That's how Ed Hahn, W6NHZ, remembers a meeting with Melvin Hanson in 1938 or 1939.  Ed had developed a keying circuit based on a Type 27 tube which was connected to the dash contact of his Vibroplex.  The result was a keyer which made dots mechanically and dashes electronically.  He and several of his friends who lived near Long Beach, CA were using them on the air.  Th

How to Read the Bible

How to Read the Bible So there is much that can be done to make your reading of the Bible productive. Read to understand. Get the overall view. When advisable dig out background material to enhance appreciation. Consider prophetic import. Isolate principles that are a guide to your daily living and scriptures that will aid you in your ministry. Ask questions as you read, and let association help you answer them If you do not understand some material do not pass it over as if it were unimportant. God has not recorded material in the Bible that is dispensable. What is provided is for our instruction to guide us in making decisions and living according to the divine will. Do not show disrespect for God by passing over material you do not understand. Do research , going to an index in one of the Watch Tower publications. Take time to read the Bible with understanding.

If you stop feeding on spiritual provisions...

IF YOU stop breathing air, you will die in a few minutes. If you stop drinking water, you will die in a few days. If you stop eating food, you will die in a few weeks. If you stop feeding on Jehovah’s spiritual provisions, then when you die you will be dead forever. Jehovah provides the air, water, and food that all living creatures need. Hence, to Jehovah the psalmist says: “You are opening your hand and satisfying the desire of every living thing.” (Psalm 145:16) The desire of most living things is fulfilled by the material provisions. But this is not true of human creatures.  (w87 10/1 pp. 10-11 pars. 1, 2)
